I attended the Californio Ranch Rodeo a few years back in Red Bluff, California. The whole event pays homage to the old vaquero style of horsemanship and the handling of horses and cattle including the dress and spirit of the vaquero.
Waiting for the Dawn
This painting, a throwback to my cowboy days, is of a good friend of mine who is dead now. He was a cowboy’s cowboy and a fine man.
Adobe Shadows
I was wandering around Canyon Road in Santa Fe one day and got off onto a side street where I caught the light and shadows on this iconic looking adobe casa with a hand carved wooded gate that is so typical in the area. Desert Wash
This desert scene is from near Wickenburg, AZ. I’ve painted a couple of times in the Arizona desert and each time I have found it to be a real challenge. Alaska

Shortly after entering the state of Alaska I came across this view and felt it typified what I was expecting Alaska to be. A trip of a lifetime for sure. This 24 x 36 oil is framed …
Aspen Glow
Anyone who has ever walked in an aspen grove will remember the experience the remainder of their life. Walking through an aspen grove in full fall color is almost beyond comprehension. One can not put the experience into words. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so this is the closest I can come to actually being there. …
