Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada on the Long Ride North

We are camped in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada this morning. When we left on the Long Ride North, Jasper seemed to be such a along way off. Now that we are here again on the way back home in the closing days of our ride, we are thinking that it is close to home even though we are over more than a thousand miles off still. No sense in hurrying the end. It will come soon enough.

The ride from Vanderhoof to Jasper was stunning, getting better every mile. We’ve seen so much beautiful country. Here is a pic of what greeted us as we neared Jasper. This isn’t my photo however. It is courtesy of peakware, com.

Our view was somewhat marred by low hanging clouds. The campground we stayed in here last night was on high alert for bear with sightings of black bear and grizzly on a daily basis. We had to lock all of our “smelly” goods, food, deodorants, cosmetics, vitamins, etc. in a bear lockup for the night. With bear spray at the ready, the night passed uneventfully however, and a good sleep was had by all.

Today we are on the Radium Hot Springs where we will seek out a camp site on the recommendation of one of the faithful followers of this blog. Thanks Bill.

Until then, thanks for coming along on this adventure. Mike out.
