First Night Out

Here I am in Albuquerque, New Mexico on the first night out on my ride to San Antonio,Texas. I’ll let this video speak for itself. See you in the morning. Well, I seem to be having some metastatic difficulties with video uploads so this still image will have to do. This is of my camp in Albuquerque, NM on the first night out. It is at the KOA. Sometimes you can draw a really nice spot at KOA’s and sometimes it’s just a notch up from the parking lot at Wal-Mart which I’m sorry to say is the case tonight. The KOA is located right next to the interstate to boot. A real bonus there. Fortunately they didn’t charge anymore for that feature.

It was a nice ride down here today today. After some last minute route changes due to weather I decided to come over Red Mountain Pass to Durango and on down her to Albuquerque. The roads over the passes were dry much to my relief and the scenery was breath taking. I did get some GoPro video of that part of the ride and I would have liked to taken some still photos but there wasn’t any safe place to pull off to the side of the road, so you’ll just have to wait for the video.

From about Durango south it got a bit chilly and the wind blew all the way here. In fact it is still blowing. Not hard enough to get a motel room but enough to make it pretty cool and a bit irritating. It’s a pain to ride all day in the wind and then stop and get off of the bike and it’s still blowing.

I will say that this new Harley is sure a pleasure to ride. I can’t believe how well it pulls that trailer. It is just a comfortable ride in every respect. A pure joy to sit in the saddle all day long.

I guess I better turn in and study the map some so I know where I’m going tomorrow.
