Grand Wash was painted on location in Capitol Reef National Park in Utah one fine fall day. I like the simple shapes and the beautiful desert colors. Capitol reef is a favorite place to paint. The red rock geology offers a wealth of color opportunities and lends itself well to the watercolor medium. Proud canyon walls cast cool shadows over the desert floor. The views change by the hour.
An original 10 x 14 image watercolor using professional grade Winsor & Newton paints in a hand gilded frame and fillet with a linen mat and museum glass. I do my own gilding and framing.
