No News is Good News on this Long Ride North

Just a quickie post before I turn in for the night. This is Thursday night, July 10th, 2014. We are in Pocatello, Idaho camped for the night. Although it was a beautiful ride down I-15 today from Helena, MT on the return from the Long Ride North, I have no photos or video for the day. I can’t believe it. I took no video and no still photos today. I must be slipping or it’s getting so close to the end I’m just pictured and videoed out. I’m not sure. It’s been arduous for sure but I’d do it again in a heart beat. Riding a motorcycle allows one for a lot of private time with your thoughts. You’ve got to be comfortable with this. I felt really good the last couple of days. There were three or four days before that I was not feeling up to par and I was getting a little concerned. I think I was getting dehydrated. Since then I’ve been drinking more water and I think that has helped. Without having to think about video and photographing today I was able to direct my thoughts more inward which I really enjoyed. I figured a few important things out which I’m happy about. I’ve just got to work out the details now. Call it a bit of a career change. Additionally I came up with a name for my book and the talks and interviews  I will be giving. Before we left I had been approached about giving a “TED” type talk to a group of invited people and have also been approached about an interview for a magazine. Consequently I have been trying to organize my thoughts about the ride. I came up with a very appropriate title/name for those talks, the book and the DVD I will put together from all of the video. You’re going tol just love when I reveal it. HA! I guess you’ll have to wait for the movie trailer, the book preview, a copy of the magazine and info on the talk. Stay tuned. One of the thoughts I had today was that for the last 20 odd some days, I haven’t watched, heard or otherwise tuned into the news. Other than trying to catch the Weather Channel when we had a room and TV, I’ve got no clue what-so-ever what the latest White House Scandal is. What is even more shocking is that it hasn’t affected me in the least and I really don’t care. I’ve had other things on my mind. I’ve been living in the moment. When you are running along on the Interstate on a motorcycle at 75 or 80 mph, things are happening at a pretty quick clip. You better have your mind on the current situation. I kind of like that. OK, so tomorrow we plan to ride to Vernal, Utah. This will be the celebratory end to the trip. It is fitting in that Vernal, Utah is a very nondescript high desert town that has the most beautiful hanging flower baskets on the their main street. More importantly, Vernal seems to be the portal through which we always have to pass through on our motorcycle trips. It will be fitting. We have to think of something to do for the occasion. I’ll let you know. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with this shot from Watson Lake, Yukon. It is of Bee Jay’s, a combination truck repair and towing service, gas station, and cafe. Sometimes you have to take what you get if you want a meal. The food was vey mediocre but the ambiance was priceless. I think I mentioned the place in a post. Here ya go. Bee Jays 1
