Painted near the Catalina Mts. Tucson, AZ during the 2016 Plein Air Convention. This was a wonderful gathering of plein air arts from all over the country. The convention featured some great artist and vendors.
I’ve always found the desert southwest a challenge to paint but this stately sauguaro begged to be painted. I used the wash it was in to compose the painting.
