The Cimarron Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains in Western Colorado is one of my favorite places to go paint. The fall colors here are some of the best in Colorado. This stand of Aspen trees, as are all Aspen groves, are all a part of the same root system. It is amazing that although they are are related in a given grove, they will all have varying stages of color change. I often will pack the camper trailer and spend a couple of days in splendor painting these falls colors. I find the trunks of Aspen trees to have an interesting character and texture. The color varies considerably depending on the what speckled sunlight they reflect.
