Important Announcements

Good Morning. I’ve got a few important announcements that I’d like to pass along. I’m happy to announce an active show schedule for this year. If you happen to be in the area of any of these, I welcome you to stop by and get acquainted.

As you know by following along so far I just returned from the Plein Air Convention 2016 in Tucson Arizona. Next on the agenda is a quick trip to Santa Fe, NM this weekend to take in the Spring Art Festival on Canyon Road. I’m not participating but will be looking for opportunities.

May 23, I, along with my riding companions, will be giving a talk at the Montrose Library at 7:00 on “The Long Ride North” a motorcycling adventure made in 2014. Lots of pictures, story telling and a Q&A session following. Don’t be late as we’ll leave without you.

On June 20 to 25, I will be participating in the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts Maynard Dixon Guest Artist Campout. Fellow artist Spike Ress made me aware of this. I’m pretty excited about it. It’s a paint out on location around the Maynard Dixon Studio between Zion and Bryce National Parks. You can go to the link and read more about it.

Of course in July I will be taking the Harley on a road trip to Northern Minnesota, Lake Superior and into Ontario and back across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. I’ll be painting along the way and will bring back some fun watercolor sketches.

Then, in September I will once again be participating in the Escalante Canyons Art Festival from the 16th through the 25th. I did this show several years ago and always had a great time over there. Wonderful, wild, scenic Southern Utah landscape. Thrilling stuff there.

Immediately following the Escalante show is Alla Prima Westcliff in Westcliff, Colorado, near the Sangre de Cristo range on September 30th through October 3rd.. I’ve never done this show but I’ve heard good things about the area and am looking forward to participating in it.

Right on the heels of the Westcliff show, I have to beat foot it back into Utah to the Plein Air Moab, in Moab, Utah October 1st through the 8th. I just got back from painting in that area and it is a favorite.

The timing between Westcliff and Moab is a little tight so we’ll see what happens. Westcliff is near the Sangre De Cristo mountains in South Central Colorado, a pretty good solid days drive from Moab.

I’ve applied for a show in San Angelo, Texas the last of October but I haven’t heard as to whether I’ve been accepted yet. I’ll let you if I do.

Then the biggy for the year so far is I was accepted into the Zion National Park Plein Air Invitational the 7th through the 13th of November. This is a rather prestigious show for me. Large numbers of artists apply each year and to be one of the 31 artists selected is an honor. I’ll be painting with some greats over there this fall.

You may be asking what about Colorado? Not to fret. A good part of June, the last half of July and most of August I will be in the Colorado high country working a a new series of paintings feature said Colorado High Country. I’ve already begun the series with this one of Wilson Peak, painted from reference material.
