One Year Ago Today

My how time flies. It was one year ago today that we left on The Long Ride North. Hard to believe. That was a spectacular ride. 8,279.8 miles and 28 days. You can read all about in the categories list to the right. Just click on The Long Ride North and all of the related posts will come up. I did a daily blog with photos etc. I’m still working on organizing everything for the DVD. I came home with 217 gigs of video and still photos so it is taking a while to get through it all. Additionally I’ve been writing a book about the adventure. I’m about a third of the way there. I’ve got a bit of work to do yet. On top of that, I’ve been doing some paintings from the trip. You can see those images in The Long Ride North category.

To further add to the back load, I’m leaving on The Return to the North Country ride in less than 30 days. I’m doing this one by myself this time, and won’t make it to Alaska as I’ve only got 15 to 20 days so I’ll just make a loop into Canada and back. This time I’ll be doing some painting. I’ve decided to identify specific areas to ride to and do a representative paint of that area. Originally I thought I’d just paint my way along but I’ve done that before and it’s hard to actually get anywhere. Last time I tried that, son Ted and I were headed to Calgary, AB Canada to go fishing with someone who invited us up. We had two weeks. Plenty of time. After the first week we had only gotten as far as Steamboat Springs. By then we didn’t have enough time to go on so we worked our way back home. Ted admonished me saying, “Next year, we go to Calgary first and then you can paint your way back.” Point taken and we agreed. That’s the way we did it the next year.

I’ll be blogging and filming on The Return to the North Country ride in less than a month so stay tuned. I’ll keep you “posted”.

Mike out.
