Here I am in the Wishing Well Adult RV Adult Park in  Catalina, Arizona for the next 6 or 7 days. Right next to the Circle K…for convenience I guess. I tried to get into Catalina State Park which would’ve been much more desirable but they are booked solid. They referred me here an said the next closest place is 30 miles away. I could’ve got a space at the State Park for tonight but would have had to move in the AM. This will do. Don’t plan on stay here much anyway except to sleep. The lack of esthetic amenities will force me to get out and paint which is the whole purpose of being down here to begin with…that and the convention which starts tomorrow.

I went back to the Catalina State Park to see if I could find a painting but I didn’t want to pay the $7 day for to go in for just  couple of hours this evening. I’ll save that for another day.

Instead I stopped at the Saint Catalina Catholic Church grounds that I had passed on the way to the State Park. I may go back there again before I leave. On the property is a beautiful walking cactus garden with the stations of the cross in bronze. Beautiful.

I saw the cactus is in bloom which will be nice.

I didn’t get any painting done this evening, preferring to drive around a bit and get a feel for things. Sort of like when I go fly fishing. It’s better to approach a water easy and get to know it instead of rushing right in. Same with painting on location. It’s better to get a little acquainted, if you will, before the brushes come out. Look around. Take a walk. Let it come to you. The light will be different in the morning than it will be in the evening.

It’s late and I need to get up early but I wanted to get something out to you. Stay tuned.
